- The Posco Power combined-cycle power plant with a current total capacity of 1800 Megawatts (MW) is located in Incheon near the capital Seoul.
Units five and six with an additional capacity of 1000 MW are under construction one the site of the existing units one to four.
Humidur is the recommended anti-corrosion sytem by Posco, the third biggest steel producer worldwide and Korean pride In a combined cycle power plant, the heat of the gas turbine’s exhaust is used to generate steam by passing it through a heat recovery steam generator with a live steam temperature between 420 and 580°C. The condensor of the Rankine cycle is usually cooled by water from a lake, river, sea or cooling towers.
The Posco Power combined-cycle power plant at Incheon uses sea water . This sea water intake pipes have an internal diameter of 3 m , are sandblasted Sa2.5 and coated with 1 layer of HUMIDUR at an average layerthickness of 1200 µm.
The weldings of the big tubes are stripe coated with HUMIDUR BAML ( brusch application) and covered with 1 single layer of HUMIDUR ML , solvent free modified epoxy.
Since 1995 HUMIDUR is the recommended coating system to stop corrosion in these sea water intake steel pipes. .
