LNG Terminal, Fluxys

Acotec carried out the full corrosion treatment of coal tar-covered tubular piles at the Fluxys LNG Terminal in Zeebrugge, Belgium, treating 205 jetty piles and 12 mooring piles. A two-phase approach was used to protect the steel piles under open sea conditions:

• Above the low water mark, piles were accessed via scaffolding.
• Below the low water mark, Acotec used its DZI tubular cofferdam for the entire treatment.

This method, combined with the use of Humidur® Coatings, allowed work to proceed without disrupting port operations. Surface preparation involved a tailored mix of induction and UHP water jetting. The Humidur® coating was applied in a single layer and cures underwater.
