Wilford Quay

Several locations along the Sea Scheldt have been refurbished using Humidur® anti-corrosion coating. One notable site is the Wilfordkaai, where both concrete shores and sheet piles were coated along their full length, above and below the waterline.

Both steel and concrete structures were treated with Humidur®; steel surfaces were grit blasted to Sa 2½ before coating. Since Humidur® can be exposed to water immediately and cures underwater, work could continue during both low and high tides. A unique aspect of this project was the repeated assembly and disassembly of the full scaffolding system along the quay, timed with low tide.
